Privacy Policy
Effective Date: April 2, 2025 · Last Updated: April 22, 2026
GunBasics MD (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is a sole proprietorship owned and operated by Herb Addy in the State of Maryland. We are committed to protecting the privacy of everyone who visits our website at gunbasicsmd.com or registers for our in-person firearms training courses.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using the Site or submitting information through our forms, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide when registering for a class (name, email, phone, session preference, experience level), submitting a contact form, signing up for our newsletter, or making a payment. We also collect standard server log data automatically (IP address, browser type, pages visited). We use only essential and functional cookies — no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to: process class registrations and send confirmations; respond to inquiries; send newsletter updates (with your consent); facilitate payment through Clover; comply with applicable laws; and improve the Site. We do not use your information for automated profiling.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share it only with: our web hosting provider (server logs); Clover (card payment processing — we never see your card number); and our email delivery provider. We may also disclose information as required by law or to protect safety.
4. Data Retention
Registration records are retained for 3 years; contact form submissions for 12 months; newsletter subscribers until unsubscribed; payment records for 7 years per tax requirements.
5. Payment Processing (Clover)
Card payments are processed by Clover, a PCI DSS-compliant third-party processor. GunBasics MD never receives or stores your full card number. See Clover’s Privacy Policy for details.
6. Data Security
We use SSL/TLS encryption, access controls, and regular security updates to protect your information. However, no internet transmission is 100% secure. Contact us immediately if you believe your information has been compromised.
7. Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information. You may unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time via the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us. To exercise any right, email learn@gunbasicsmd.com and we will respond within 30 days.
8. Children's Privacy
The Site is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Contact us immediately if you believe we have done so and we will delete it promptly.
9. Third-Party Links
The Site may link to third-party websites including range facilities and payment processors. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those sites. Review their policies before providing personal information.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy periodically. Changes are effective when posted with an updated “Last Updated” date. Continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance.
11. Governing Law
This policy is governed by Maryland law. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of courts in Maryland. If you are located in a jurisdiction with specific privacy rights (GDPR, CCPA), contact us to discuss accommodating your requests.
